Have the ancient art of batik by dying fabric and using wax to create unusual patterns. You can use the patterns in Staircase House to design a cool wall hanging, picture or cushion cover using

Use fruit and a variety of other shapes to print your own pillow case with a repeat design!
We’ll even throw in the pillow case for you!

AFRICAN STORIES

Celebrate Black History Month by listening to stories about Africa and African people in our Hidden Histories gallery. Our experienced storyteller will take you on a journey to a different time!

Drop in and create a print at our family friendly workshop. You will be amazed at how easy it is to create a dramatic effect using ideas from our exhibition.

A fun afternoon of activities for all the family. You can melt old plastic bags and transform them into a work of art, crack the coded messages, and enjoy listening to stories.

BATIK ART

Learn the art of batik with artist Denise Steane.

Use the patterns in Staircase House to design a beautiful wall hanging, picture or cushion cover. Batik is a technique of fabric dying using wax to create unusual patterns and effects.

Please bring your own picture frame (any frame will do!) to stretch fabric over.
